Humidors "I am
easily satisfied by the very best." Humidors is what started my box building business. About twelve years ago I made my first one for a friend, and then three more for him and thru word of mouth I have stayed busy making Custom ' One of a Kind " Humidors for that small elite group of individuals that simply want the best. Every Humidor that I build is built one at a time by me. There is no other person to build, sand, finish or ship but me. I control the Quality from selecting the wood to shipping. Something that I am very proud of. Every Humidor is made from selected solid stock, I use very little veneer and state so if I do. Every color you see is natural, I use no stains or dyes. This is what you will get if you own one of my Humidors.
This custom “One of a Kind” Humidor is made from “Crotch” Honduras Mahogany. The top has been “book-matched, that is why you see the "mirror image". The top and corners are banded with MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros celebica), which is one of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This close- grained, heavy hardwood machines and turns well, but tends to dull tools and is difficult to glue. Used for turned and carved items, inlays, and contemporary furniture. Ebony is so expensive, it is sold by the pound. The inlays in the ends and sides of the top are American Holly. Mahogany has long been a favorite of furniture makers for building high-end furniture. Crotch Mahogany is some the most valuable veneer in the world. It is warm brown in color and because it’s “crotch” it has the most beautiful grain patterns that you will ever see. There is something about Mahogany that speaks quality and most people know and love this wood. This is some of the best looking “Crotch” Mahogany that I have ever had in my shop. It is very old, somewhere between 80 and 100 years old. The person I got it from is 75 years old and he got it from his father and he is not sure how long his dad had it. The Mahogany slab was about 2 and one half inches thick and very uneven. I believe it was a slab left over from a veneer mill. This is a unique "One-of-a-Kind Humidor" signed and dated. Airtight lid will not "bang" when closed. All my Humidors get 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give them the best finish possible. Completely lined with Spanish Cedar. Dividers slide in grooves to make size adjustments easy and secure. Only first quality, solid brass hinges and stays are used. This is a very large humidor and has a full lift out trays with storage in the bottom and will hold 50 to 75 cigars. Comes complete with a custom Humidifier and Hygrometer and a five page manual that covers how to set-up and care of your new Humidor. Size approx. 8.5 x 12x 9 ted_706 Cost 825.00 (Free shipping)
This custom “One of a Kind” Humidor is made from Kingwood (Dalbergia cearensis) is in the “Rosewood” family, of which there are over 200 species and Kingwood being one of the most expensive. Also known as Violetwood, this heavy Central American hardwood is characterized by its rich coloration. It turns and machines well, but its dust is a serious irritant to some people. Kingwood is well suited for inlays, decorative items and furniture accents. Kingwood is getting very hard to come by and is only available in narrow widths and short lengths. This Chest was build so the grain "wraps" around the Chest and matches on all four corners, matching three is easy, but matching four takes some woodworking skill. This custom “One of a Kind” Humidor is made from Marblewood, Zygia racemosa (syn. Marmaroxylon racemosum, Pithecellobium racemosum) of the family Leguminosae (subfamily Mimosoideae), the legume or pea family. There are numerous woods that have the common name "marblewood" (notably East Indian Ebony but many others as well), but this is what should really be meant when using that term. It is very distinctive, rare, and very expensive. It is a South American wood and looks somewhat like zebrawood but much more dense and a wider spacing of the light/dark stripes. The color seems to be a constant “Golden Yellow”, whereas Zebrawood ranges from tan to white in color. Both having the dark strips. The forward and back edges are banded with MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros celebica), which is one of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This close- grained, heavy hardwood machines and turns well, but tends to dull tools and is difficult to glue. Used for turned and carved items, inlays, and contemporary furniture. Ebony is so expensive it isn't sold by the board foot, but is sold by the pound.
