This custom “One of a Kind” Jewelry Chest is made from Canary. This wood comes from Brazil. This wood has streaks of Red, Yellow and Black running thru it. Canary is a wonderful wood to work with and finishes very well. The interior is lined with Paduak (Pterocarpus soyauxii) also called Vermillion; this decorative hardwood originates in Africa and the Andaman Islands, with one major variety native to Burma. This wood is naturally red to orange in color and some times there will be dark streaks running thru it. Paduak is easy to work with and is used to make high-end furniture, flooring and architectural accents and “one of a kind” boxes of all kinds. Who says there are no red trees! This Chest was build so the grain "wraps" around the Chest and matches on four corners, matching three is easy, but matching four takes some woodworking skill. Canary is a beautiful wood and has a “sweet smell” when working with, my favorite wood to work with. The top is banded with Pau Amerillo and Ebony. MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros celebica), which is one of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This close- grained, heavy hardwood machines and turns well, but tends to dull tools and is difficult to glue. Used for turned and carved items, inlays, and contemporary furniture. Ebony is so expensive; they sell it by the pound. A unique "One-of-a-Kind" Jewelry Chest signed and dated. Each Jewelry Chest gets 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" between coats to give them the best finish possible.  There is plenty of room in this Jewelry Chest. There is plenty of room in this Jewelry Chest. The top lift-out tray has one small tray inside it. Below this tray, there are two more trays. Removable dividers make arranging compartment easy to hold small to large pieces of jewelry. Bottom of Chest and all trays are lined with real suede.

This custom “One of a Kind” Jewelry Chest is made from Lacewood, (Cardwellia sublimes) also called Silky Oak, this Australian hardwood is noted for its striking lacelike figure, caused by distinctive rays throughout the quarter-sawn lumber. Lacewood works well, has good bending qualities, and is well suited for inlays, marquetry and accent areas of fine furniture. This Chest was build so the grain "wraps" around the Chest and matches on four corners, matching three is easy, but matching four takes some woodworking skill. The interior is lined with American Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), which is among one of our most desirable hardwoods. Walnut has long been the favorite of furniture makers for building high-end furniture. There is something about Walnut that speaks quality and most people know and love this wood. The front and back edges are banded with MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros celebica), which is one of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This custom “One of a Kind” Jewelry Chest is made from (Quilted) Chechen (Metopium browneii) which has streaks of red to golden-brown color, with lots of variations. The Wood texture is fine and uniform, pores barely visible; grain often interlocked. Chechen is somewhat rare, but to find “Quilted Chechen, is a very rare fine. This wood is found in Central America, Mexico, Yucatan. In 35 years of working with exotic woods, this is the first “Quilted” Chechen that I have ever seen. The top is banded with Ebony. This has to be the most beautiful wood that I have ever seen, photos do not do it justice. The wood works with extreme difficulty due to its hardness and wild grain, and sharp tools must be used and sanding is the only way to get it smooth, a planer cannot be used because it rips the grain out, impossible to plane smooth. Easy to finish and takes an excellent polish. All my Jewelry Chest get 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give them the best finish possible. There is plenty of room in this Jewelry Chest. The top lift-out tray has a small tray inside it. Below this tray, there are two levels. Removable dividers make arranging compartment easy to hold small to large pieces of jewelry. Bottom of Chest and all trays are line with real suede. This Chest is a rare find!
