Custom Keepsake Boxes
"One of a Kind"
Signed and Dated

Each Keepsake Box is custom built, one at a time by me. Most people love boxes and I collect boxes myself and now have over 35 in my collection. I even have the old cigar boxes from my childhood. I spend a lot of time choosing just the right woods to complement each other. Most are Exotic woods and none are on any endangered list. I use only solid stock, there is no veneer in any of these boxes, unless specified. All of the woods are their natural color, I use no dyes or stains. Every thing I make gets a "Hand Rubbed Oil Finish". Usually five to eight coats. This is a blend of five oils that provides the best finish possible. The finish was developed for the marine environment. The base is polyurethane.

This custom “One of a Kind” Keepsake box is made from Paduak (Pterocarpus soyauxii) also called Vermillion; this decorative hardwood originates in Africa and the Andaman Islands, with one major variety native to Burma. This wood is naturally red to orange in color and sometimes there will be dark streaks running thru it. Works well, is used for furniture, flooring and architectural accents and “one of a kind” boxes of all kinds. Who says there are no red trees! The inlay in the center is Lacewood, (Cardwellia sublimes) also called Silky Oak, this Australian hardwood is noted for its striking lacelike figure, caused by distinctive rays throughout the quarter-sawn lumber. Lacewood works well, has good bending qualities, and is well suited for inlays, marquetry and accent areas of fine furniture. A unique "One-of-a-Kind" Keepsake box signed and dated. Each Jewelry Chest gets 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give them the best finish possible.

 Size is approx. 7 x 10 x 3.25 inches. Item # ted_735 Cost $169.00 (Free Shipping)

This custom-made “One of a Kind” Keepsake Box is made from EAST INDIAN ROSEWOOD (Dalbergia latifolia) is in the “Rosewood” family, of which there are over 200 species and East Indian Rosewood being one of the most expensive.  This heavy and strong, durable hardwood is grown from India and Sri Lanka to Indonesia. Variable coloration and good stability make this a good choice for accent furniture and fixtures, turnery, musical instruments (Martin Guitar being a major user) and “one of a kind” boxes of all kinds. The front and back edges are banded with Cardinal wood.

 Size is approx. 6.5 x 9 x 3 inches. Item # ted_632  Cost $219.00 (Free Shipping!)

This custom “One of a Kind” Keepsake box is made from American Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) is among the most desirable hardwoods. Walnut has long been the favorite of furniture makers for building high-end furniture. The top is “book-matched” crotch Walnut, extremely hard to work with, but the trouble is well worth it. There is something about Walnut that speaks quality and most people know and love this wood. This medium weight, attractive wood is sawn into a variety of figures, including crotch, burl and fiddleback. Works carves and turns extremely well. This box was build from the same board so the grain "wraps" around the Chest and matches on three corners. American Black Walnut has always been sought for “high end” furniture, clock cases, gunstocks, and musical instruments and “one of a kind” boxes of all kinds. A unique "One-of-a-Kind" Keepsake box signed and dated. This Keepsake box has 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give it the best finish possible.

 Item # ted_756 Size is approx. 5 x 8.5 x 4 inches. Cost $145.00 (Free Shipping)

This custom “One of a Kind” Keepsake box is made from GENUINE MAHOGANY (Swietenia macrophylla)and is a popular furniture hardwood originating in many Central and South American countries. Prized for its workability and stability, Genuine Mahogany has many uses: fine furniture, wood carving and turning, pattern making, molds and dies, boat construction, and caskets and “one of a kind” boxes of all kinds. The top is made from the Yew tree, which is famous for its “Bow” making qualities. In the days of King Author, the Yew tree was used for making “Long Bows” and only the king could harvest this wood. The Yew tree has a very long taproot and this was thought to cleanse the ground, so they planted Yew trees around cemeteries to cleanse the ground and today that is why there are so many Yew trees around the old cemeteries in England. Still today modern “Bow makers” prize the Yew wood for Bows. Yew wood is “tight-grained” and sands to a very smooth surface and takes the best finish of any of the woods I work with. A unique "One-of-a-Kind" Keepsake box signed and dated. This Keepsake box has 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give it the best finish possible.

 Item # ted_757 Size is approx. 5 x 8.5 x 4 inches. Cost $155.00 (Free Shipping)
